At Fredric H. Rubel Jewelers, you may think we’re only in the jewelry business. And, to some degree we are. But, we’re really in the celebration business.
We’ve been privileged to be a part of so many people’s lives — through milestones and celebrations —since 1928.
Our grandparents, Rose and Barney, began their retail journey opening a store called Crescent Jewelers in San Bernardino, California. It was there, at their very humble location, that they built a reputation of offering spectacular fine jewelry, timepieces, and giftware. This led to a second location, which opened around 1940.
Our father, Fredric was only sixteen at the time, but already had a love for the jewelry business. He knew that would be his calling. As time moved on, he met his other love, our mother Joan. They married in 1957.
Fredric was instrumental in making the business flourish. In 1972, the third, and probably the most architecturally beautiful, store opened in the mall in San Bernardino. By then the name had changed..
As our involvement grew with the business, our family became more rooted in Orange County. As a result, our store locations became more focused here. In 1999, we opened The Shops at Mission Viejo location followed by Laguna Beach in 2004. And although our father is retired now, he’s still involved and curious. He enjoys hearing updates on what’s new with our clients and seeing new pieces from our favorite designers.
Fredric H. Rubel Jewelers because he truly set the bar for us. From the way he taught us to run the business to the way he lives life, he is one-of-a-kind. He built the business into what it is today, and developed a strong relationship with every customer. We are proud to follow in his footsteps as local family business owners and community members.
